Fatal Attacks of Trans Women in Dallas

Dallas Police are looking into the violent attacks of three trans women to see if they’re connected. Two deaths and one brutal stabbing have taken place since last year.

Most recently, 23-year-old Muhlaysia Booker was found shot dead in Northeastern Dallas while another trans woman survived a brutal stabbing in April.

According to law enforcement, similarities surrounding the attacks include the location the last two victims were found, near southeast of downtown Dallas and all of the victims either getting into someone’s car or allowing someone into their car before the attacks.

Police are looking into determining whether any of the cases should be labeled as hate crimes. So far, no arrests have been made.

The Realist Woman’s take:

In just seven months, there have been two fatalities and one extremely violent stabbing attack of trans women in Dallas. These women are clearly being targeted. A month prior to her death, Muhlaysia Booker was publicly beaten after a traffic incident. Police are also looking into the death of a trans woman whose remains were found in a field in Dallas in 2017.

Police had scheduled a meeting with the LGBT community in Dallas to discuss the attacks. I know police haven’t labeled them as such, but these are hate crimes and they need to be taken seriously as to warn and protect trans women in and around Dallas.
